The Horicon Recreation Department is looking for individuals that have a genuine interest working with children and families to offer the best possible experience through programs and activities. If you enjoy working in an active environment that changes from season to season, these positions may be a good fit.

All recreational staff will be employed through the YMCA of Dodge County. An application can be found here, the YMCA of Dodge County, the Horicon School District Office, or at the Van Brunt Gymnasium.

Open Positions

Recreation Program Assistant

FLSA Status: Part-time

Reports to: Horicon Recreation Director

 

This position is responsible for leading the youth athletic experience and enjoyment of a variety of sports and activities. This position will work with participants aged 4-16. The Program Assistant provides a quality experience, fosters achievement, encourages  belonging, and acts as an energetic, positive role model for children and staff, while developing a safe environment. 

Required: 

  • Engage positively with children in program. 

  • Requires high energy and an interest in planning and participating in fun and creative recreational activities with children. 

  • Requires ability to effectively interact with, lead and motivate children who have a variety of abilities and needs. 

  • Positive attitude and creative thinking skills.  

  • Strong communication skills.

Wage Scale: $9.00-$11.00/hour based on experience
Hours per week: Part-time hourly / Seasonal hourly
Work Days: Shifts available Monday though Saturday

Before and After School Teacher

FLSA Status: Part Time

Reports to: Child Care Director

 

Wage: $10- $12 Hourly, dependent upon credentials and work history

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing quality care for school age children before and after school hours. Our staff provide daily activities, games, crafts in a safe and nurturing environment. Work Day/Time: Monday - Friday following Horicon School District Calendar, 6:30am until school starts and when school dismisses - 5:45 pm. More details can be found here.

  • A good work ethic and ability to work independently.

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification or within 30 days of hire.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have a minimum of 80 hours of Early Childhood classes OR completed at least 3 credits in Elementary Education, or Child Guidance, or Child Development.

  • Must meet all requirements and be familiar with state licensing guidelines and requirements.

  • Willing to train the right individual.
